Mole Creek

At the gateway to iconic Cradle Mountain, and overlooked by the magnificent escarpment of the Great Western Tiers, Mole Creek is surrounded by countryside of great rustic charm and natural beauty, both above and below ground. The peaceful village with its plentiful accommodation and services, makes an ideal base if touring the central north of Tasmania or if spending time more locally visiting the world class Mole Creek Caves, Trowunna Wildlife Park and the many other attractions the region has to offer.

This is a bush walker’s nirvana. World Heritage listed National Parks are readily accessed, including the extraordinary Walls of Jerusalem. Trails lead to spectacular lookouts at Alum Cliffs and Devils Gullet, and bush walks follow in the footsteps of hunters, trappers and loggers up the face of the Great Western Tiers. For a man-made marvel, visit the superlative Wychgood Garden, one of Australia’s best. Fishing for trout is a popular pastime too in the many lakes and rivers nearby and cyclists can choose from four routes for differing experiences; gourmet, world heritage, caves and country.
